Race Checklist

(Recommended; not mandatory. Subject to changes)

First, here’s our usual agenda:

  • 7:00am to 8:15am: Sign-in, bib/shirt pick-up, and last-minute registration at front of Building 14. If you have bags and extra possessions that you don’t need at the race, you can go to the box truck next to the building to check your items in. It is managed by security guards so your possessions will be safe.
  • There will be buses taking participants and registered spectators from Building 14 to the race’s location on the runway. The last bus leaves Building 14 around 8:30am to 8:40am.
  • The race begins at 9:00am, depending on security and other factors.
  • The time the race ends varies every year, but on average we expect the bulk of participants to be done by 11:00am and the whole event wrapped up by noon. The buses will leave the race’s area (runway) continually as soon as they are filled with people once they finish the race.
  • After the race, we have an awards ceremony outside Building 14. If you have time, we hope you’ll be able to attend the ceremony. Who knows, you might win a medal or prize! We also sell raffle tickets before the race (it’s on the online registration form).

The day before the race:

  • Prepare your bag. Take along dry clothes, hat/cap*, small towel, water bottle, etc. (We will have a secure place for you to store your possessions while you participate in the race.)
  • If you’ve registered for the race, bring a printout of it (optional). Don’t forget to bring your ID too.
  • Check the weather for the race day. If rain is in the forecast, take along a waterproof light jacket/windbreaker.
  • Eat a light dinner.
  • Study/memorize your route to the race. If taking public transportation, check the schedule and so on. See Where We Are. Plan to get there early enough.
  • If you have any lingering questions about the race, check out our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) before you contact us. We’ll try our best to answer you, considering the time limitations.
  • Get a lot of rest and sleep well!

(* Hat/cap, especially the beanie cap type, helps soak up the sweat from your head, keeps you warm and provides shade from the sun. As it’s usually windy on the runway, don’t wear loose-fitting hats or caps.)

On the day of the race:

  • Eat a light and healthy breakfast: yogurt, fruits, oatmeal, bagel/toast with jelly, etc.
  • Keep an eye on the time and be sure to have plenty of time to get to the race.
  • Keep yourself hydrated. Drink 4-6 ounces of water every half hour until one hour before the race.
  • If you’ve registered for the race, go to one of the tables in front of the building to sign in / pick up your shirt/bib. (For those who didn’t get a bib in the mail.)
  • Buy some raffle tickets! The proceeds will go to various charities. The raffle is sold online via the online registration.
  • Do warm-up exercises 15-30 minutes before the race.
  • There will be buses that will take everyone out to the runway where the race takes place.
  • Feeling ready and pumped up?!
Don’t see a useful tip that you think should be on this page? Let us know!

During the race:

  • Pace yourself and just enjoy the scenery around you. It’s not every day that you get to run on a runway!
  • Stay hydrated by sipping water. If you’re carrying disposable items (water bottle, cup, etc.), please don’t litter! There will be trash disposals throughout the race.
  • Stand-alone cameras are not allowed. However, if you have a smartphone with a built-in camera, it’s fine! Remember to take pictures of yourself and/or your companions with airplanes and the runway in the background to memorialize the unique event. (Please ensure that you’re not standing in the way of other participants.)

After the race:

  • You finished the race! Congratulations. We hope you enjoyed it.
  • Do cool-down exercises.
  • If you brought some dry clothes, there will be port-a-potty stalls where you can change clothes in privacy as well as relieve yourself.
  • There will be buses to take everyone back to Building 14.
  • If you have free time, stick around and enjoy the after-race ceremony. You might win a medal and/or something in the raffle!
  • Drop us a note (email, Facebook, or Twitter) and let us know of your experience! If you encountered issues or have concerns, please let us know, too.
