1. Coming from Long Island (going west):

Take the Belt Parkway west and get off at Exit 21-B to Rockaway Blvd. Exit (west) on to the North Conduit (west) which runs parallel to the Belt Parkway. Go about two miles west on the North Conduit.

Cross over 150th Street (top of the hill) you will see a Exxon Gas Station on your right.

Continue on the North Conduit, past the Holiday Inn, Radisson Hotel, and Hilton Hotel which are on your right.

Stay in your right lane and take the ramp up to the Van Wyck Expressway (south) to the main entrance to JFK Airport. Then follow the directions as detailed in #3 below.

2. Coming from Brooklyn via the Belt Parkway:

Follow the signs to JFK Airport. Stay in your right lane and take the ramp down the Van Wyck Expressway (south) to the main entrance to JFK Airport.

Then follow the directions as detailed in #3 below. The next exit on your right going down a slight hill is the entrance to the Federal Circle. Do not use this exit! Continue ahead over the bridge and you will see a large electronic sign over the roadway, “WHERE JFK GREETS THE WORLD” and a large clock. Pass under this sign. Stay in the far right lane.

3. Continue down a slight hill (on your right) this is the entrance to the South Service Road. You will see a flashing caution traffic light with a yellow signal straight ahead and you will see Building 14 on your right. You will see a huge structure in the background that is 135 feet tall with the “JAL” sign. This is part of the Building 14 facility.

Be sure to stay on the right side to enter the South Service Road.

4. There are three gates leading into the entrance of Building 14. Use the first gate entrance on your left. After 6:00pm and weekends/holidays this gate is closed from 6:00pm to 6:00am. During this period, use the third entrance on your left (the road is known as the terminal highway leading to the General Aviation terminal). Use this road and make the first right into the Building 14 parking lot.

The aerial photographs below show the location of Building 14. Building 14 is located on the South Service Road that runs parallel to the Van Wyck Expressway (678). Building 14 is a multi-tenant building that is leased by Japan Airlines Management Corp (JMC). The headquarter offices for the Port Authority are also located in this building.

Signs on the roadway leading into the parking lot show “JMC” and “Port Authority”. The 5k Race starts behind Building 14. Parking is free and is in front of Building 14. You will see a sign or signs leading you to the entrance of the sign-in/registration room. If you see a picnic area with benches, you’re in the right place.

If you get lost, don’t panic. Call the security desk at 718-244-3861. They will be happy to assist you.

If you are using public transportation from Manhattan to the race, our recommendation is as follows:

We usually recommend the A and E trains, but for the 2024 race, the A train will not be connecting to the airport due to service change. MTA recommends using the E train: “For travel between Manhattan and JFK Airport, take the E instead and connect with AirTrain JFK at Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport.”

On Air Train, proceed to Federal Circle. There will be shuttle buses with signs that say “Port Authority of NY & NJ”, “5K Race”, or the like, that will take you to Building 14 where the race is located. After the race, the shuttle buses will take you back to Federal Circle/Air Train and you can go home from there.
